Features of volunteering in palliative care

The article analyzes the two-year experience of attracting volunteers (volunteers) to the department of palliative care of the MBU of the Central Clinical Hospital No. 2 in Ekaterinburg. Several groups of volunteers have been identified: those with and without medical training; volunteers, caring for serious patients, conducting art therapy and helping to meet domestic needs. Conclusions are drawn that volunteers should take part in the work of the palliative care unit, they are an essential part of palliative care. Volunteers should be prepared to work with palliative patients, carry out work under the guidance of a specialist. Training is compulsory and requires careful selection of volunteers.
